Cattle Horn Shavings: A Possible Nitrogen Source for Apple Trees

چکیده
The circular economy concept promotes the recycling of agricultural waste. This study was aimed at investigating effects cattle horn shavings on apple tree nitrogen nutrition. Ligol trees P 60 rootstock were object study. experiment conducted in experimental orchard Institute Horticulture, Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry, from 2015 to 2018. Two fertiliser rates tested: 50 100 kg/ha N. Horn (14.1% N) applied end autumn or beginning vegetation spring one treatment N rate divided into two equal parts both spring. compared with ammonium nitrate (34.4% unfertilised treatment. lowest mineral content found soil fertilised equivalent. In all other cases, fertilisers increased soil’s content. leaf that grew (1.58–2.13%). higher (1.77–2.17%). produced smallest average yield (34.5–36.6 t/ha). highest recorded fruit (42.4 41.4 t/ha, respectively). influence studied parameters similar nitrate. shavings, like fertiliser, could facilitate nutrition management trees, especially organic orchards, where use synthetic is prohibited.

IMapple: a source-sink developmental model for ‘Golden Delicious’ apple trees
Functional structural botanical tree models are one of the most difficult models in biology. We introduce IMapple, a model for ‘Golden Delicious’ apple (Malus × domestica) trees based on source-sink descriptions of plant resources. Our model uses precise geometrical representations with high quality polygonal meshes and geometric details. We introduce a novel simulation algorithm that provides ...

Abstract Background and Aims: Apple scar skin disease (ASSD) is one of the destructive diseases of pome fruits which is caused by ASSVd. Case presentation: We report molecular detection of ASSVd in symptomatic apples cv. Red Delicious with simultaneous presence of a new variant of HSVd from Khorasan Razavi province. Conclusion: This is the first report on the association of HSVd with...

Insects as a Nitrogen Source for Plants
Many plants have evolved adaptations in order to survive in low nitrogen environments. One of the best-known adaptations is that of plant symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria; this is the major route by which nitrogen is incorporated into plant biomass. A portion of this plant-associated nitrogen is then lost to insects through herbivory, and insects represent a nitrogen reservoir that is ge...
